of
EDWARD LEON GREENE and RUTH GERTRUDE JONES

FEBRUARY 6th 1899 - ABG to RGJ ______________________________________________________________________________________

This letter from Ed's sister, Alice Blanchard Greene, dated February 6th, 1899, was sent along with one of Ed's letters (which does not survive). "Mr. Atkins" is probably Wallace Atkins, Ed's Aunt Sarah Rideout Atkins' husband.

My Dear Gertrude.

Ned says I can put a note in his letter so I guess I will as I have some more news to tell you. I have a dandy new up right piano Behr Bros. that Ma & Ned gave me and I tell you what I am the happiest girl on the continent. I think I play morning noon & night it is a beauty mahogany & I have a lovely chair & cover for it shall be glad when you come home so you can see it and I can see you and tell you lots of things. Have quite a good deal to say about Ollie (?) & Eva. Will wait til I see you as I can talk better than I can write.

You dear girl I am so anxious for the time to come when I can see you and say hallow. Do you have the Democrat if so you will see a piece about my piano I think Mr. Atkins (?) put it in.

Well I am kind of sleepy so good night.

Your true & Loving sis.
Alice.

P.S. please excuse my pencil but I was too lazy to get my pen & ink never mind I think just as much of you Gertie as though I stopped to put on style.
