March 15th. One of 7 or more Ring-necked Ducks (Aythya collaris). Hard to count because some were diving for food.

What else, Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus).

Forecast has changed. Rain not expected until 2 A.M. tonight (Monday) and persist through the day.

March 17th. Well, we got the rain and very high winds around 2 AM, but everything cleared by morning. I spent a lot of my walk flicking sticks. No downed trees, remarkably.

No surprise, water level was high at the marsh.

Lots of Ring-necked Ducks (Aythya collaris) on the south side today, along with a couple of Hooded Mergansers (no decent pics).

American Robin (Turdus migratorius).

Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus), of course.

Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula).

Ice out at Cranberry Bog. Four Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) on the margins.

March 18th. A male Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) in full courting plumge.

Four of eight Ring-necked Ducks (Aythya collaris) on the south side of the marsh.

A brief afternoon stop at the marsh east of Cook Hill Road.

Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus).

One of four turkey Vultures (Cathartes aura) circling overhead.

March 19th. Pileated Woodpecker damage I assume.

Male Wood Duck (Aix sponsa).

A male Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris).

A pair of Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatus).

The male in display mode.
