August 16th. Nice view of the Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius).

Not quite as nice, but okay.

Male Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) at the usual spot.

Red eyes are an easy way to identify males, young or old.

Near Norton's Pond. Small mushrooms, maybe an inch across the caps. I won't try to ID.

August 18th. Three Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa) near the usual spot. Female at the left; two males at the right.

Hmm, got all your ducks in a row?

The usual Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) amid Pickerelweed (Pontederia cordata).

At Old Colchester Road, they took out the temporary interlocking stream barriers on the far side.

Maybe the near side barriers will come out today. They need to before they can start bridging the stream.

August 19th. Spreading gravel on the far side.

Later in the day, tricky job of installing the bucket on the large digger.

Gentle taps from another digger's bucket.

More not-so-gentle taps.

August 19th. Midday and most of the forms have been removed from the near side.

August 20th. (Hmm, my parents' 88th anniversary.) Forms removed in the past 2 days being hauled out and stacked for pickup.

August 21st.More prep for the next stage of work.

Note the machine to compact the soil and rock by the edge of the wall.

Nice to see Raymond Brook flowing free.
