June 30th, continued. Some of the Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) at Cranberry Bog; mid-afternoon after my trip to the Transfer Station.

Hah! Among the worst pictures I've taken on the trail. (There are plenty of others, of course.) Taking the picture from far across the pond, I had no idea that the bird was behind that brown stuff.

That's better. And that's the usual resident Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) with the stump of it's damaged tongue sticking out of it's throat.

Lots of pink Sweet Peas (Lathyrus odoratus)...

...and a few mostly white ones.

Lesser Stitchwort (Stellaria graminea), a Chickweed.

Pokeweed or just Poke (Phytolacca americana) is starting to bloom.

July 1st. After 4 days off (including the weekend), work has begun again at Old Colchester Road. The pumps have drained the gravel bed...

...and a flat bed trailer was being unloaded on the far side of the stream.

No idea where these metal forms will go, but there were a lot of them.

Attaching lifting straps...

...and up goes the load...

...to be deposited at the edge of the work area until needed.

July 2nd. First picture on a hot and humid day. Camera lens foggy.

A quick wipe! Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) grooming on one of the Wood Duck boxes.

Pickerelweed (Pontederia cordata).

More materials staged on the near side of the Old Colchester Road bridge work area.

I was surprised to see the workers when temps would be close to 100 degrees and with very high humidity. On the far side, I see that some of those panels have been joined together.

The finished joined panel hooked up and moved...

...to the side. I assume they'll assemble more of these panels and store them until needed.

Norton's Pond. Fragrant Water-lilies (Nymphaea odorata) in the foreground; Reddish Water-shield (Brassenia schreberi) in the background.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) amid the Water-shield, Fragrant Water-lilies, and yellow Bullhead-lilies (Nuphar vareigatum).

July 4th. More of those panels clamped together on "my" side of the stream.

A Google image search led me to a nice video explaining their use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGSAGrsdvQA

Not sure what role those large blocks are to play. In any case, pumps are off and no work expected over the holiday weekend.

At Norton's Pond, a near duplicate of pictures I took two days ago. (See above.)
