September 24th. Morning Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) gathering. |

Young Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) at Norton's Pond.

Check out those toes.

Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) again today.

Then I spotted another Cormorant about 100 yards further east.

Not protected by oils as in many waterfowl, they have to dry their feathers by posing like this.

Heading back to my truck, the Heron had barely moved.

Mid-afternoon at Old Colchester Road, more forms being erected. Best guess is some supporting wings at the corners.

Back at Norton's Pond, some Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) shots in better light.

The young Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) out there too.

September 25th. Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa) at Raymond Brook Marsh. Seen through a tiny gap in the shrubbery on the north side.

Friday mid-afternoon at Norton's Pond. The usual Double-crested Cormorant.

At Old Colchester Road, assembling forms for a pour next week at the earliest. I wonder if all four corners will have these "wings".

Heavy rain and high winds this weekend. Hope none of their work is undone.

September 26th. At Norton's Pond, a brief lull in a rainy windy day.
