August 13th. A very foggy morning at Raymond Brook Marsh.
Two Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa). It was a very good year for Wood Ducks. I saw them in all the local ponds.
Eastern Kingbird (Tyranus tyrannus).
A Belted Kingfisher (Ceryle alcyon) atop the Wood Duck house in the fog.
Edited to diminish the fog.
Closer, and more extreme editing.
The Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) was back.
August 15th. With some family, or near family, at Cranberry Bog. (Who says I never post pictures of people?)
Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa).
Sheep in the shed east of Cranberry Bog. Looks pretty mellow.
Groundnut (Apios americana).
The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) with the damaged tongue protruding from its throat.
Great Egret (Ardea alba) at the pond east of River Road.
Eight Painted Turtles (Chrysemys picta).
Northern Water Snake (Nerodia sipedon).
Little plastc Jesus figures still showing up on trail barriers. (I think it was a church youth group project.)
August 16th. Purple Loosestrife (Lythrun salicaria) at Cranberry Bog.
The resident Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) with the damaged tongue and throat.

Woodland Sunflowers (Helianthus divaricatus) at the pond east of River Road.
Giant Reed (Phragmites australis).
A male Meadowhawk Dragonfly (Sympetrum sp.).
Two Eastern Yellowjacket wasps (Vespula maculifrons) chewing on something unrecognizable.
August 17th. At the pond east of River Road, a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodius) and a Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus).
