June 28th. On June 23rd and 26th, I saw a family of Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) walking down the trail. Today I saw a different family with much younger ducklings in the same spot.

Mating callypterate Muscoid flies.

The same flies. Photo taken with my new Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Not bad.

Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota) showing pink as the flowers begin to open.

An afternoon stop at Cranberry Bog. The first family of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) returning from the neighboring yard...

...to join the second family under the shady tree. Nearly impossible to distinguish adults from goslings except by behavior.

Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) blossoms close up.
