January 9th. Light snow overnight.

At Raymond Brook Marsh, a Northern River Otter (Lutra canadensis)...

...chomping on a fish.

It dove, seeking more privacy.

A short walk east of Route 207, in hopes to see otters there. No luck.

January 10th. A couple of stops along the trail accessed from River Road.

Lots of water flowing under the Blackledge River Bridge.

The Trailing Arbutus (Epigaea repens) still looking fine.

The flower buds are well sheltered beneath the evergreen leaves.

Nifty Moss... or is it a Liverwort? I'm stumped.

A Promethea Moth (Callosamia promethea) cocoon from last year - the moth long departed. Lots of pictures of the life cycle here: https://www.performance-vision.com/promethea/index.htm

January 15th. Cold and breezy, but the gang of Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) were around. No other birds at all.

January 16th. A brief bit of sun before clouds and light rain took over.

No birds heard or seen.
