July 6th. Back after a week away. A male Blue Dasher dragonfly (Pachydiplax longipennis)...

...perched on Showy Tick-trefoil (Desmodium canadense).

Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota).

Poke Milkweed (Asclepias exaltata) blooming as best it can this year.

Baby bunny - Eastern Cottontail, (Sylvilagus floridanus).

Canada Lilies (Lilium canadense).

Pickerelweed (Pontedera cordata)...

...with Bumble Bee (Family Bombidae).

There were more ripe Blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum), but I ate them.

July 7th. These pale lilies amidst a patch of Canada Lilies (Lilium canadense).

A bit smaller with sparse spotting inside the petals, I think they're just "sports". Will see what they look like tomorrow when fully open.

Poke Milkweed (Asclepias exaltata) up close. Sadly, I see more than half the buds were on the ground under the plants.

Spotted Wintergreen (Chimaphila maculta) is blooming. (Sorry for the awful picture.)

Odd flowers with pollen distributed from paired flask-shaped anthers.

The little insect is a Thrips (Order Thysanoptera). "Thrips" is both singular and plural. Read about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrips

Close ups of Showy Tick-trefoil (Desmodium canadense) flowers.

Perhaps the same baby bunny - Eastern Cottontail, (Sylvilagus floridanus) - as yesterday.

Meadowsweet (Spiraea alba), a shrub in the Rose Family (Rosaceae).

Speaking of roses, it has been a great year for Carolina or Pasture Roses (Rosa carolina).

One of a few Fragrant Water-lilies (Nymphaea odorata) on the channel side of Raymond Brook Marsh.

An ornamental double version of Day Lily (Hemerocallis fulva). Not sure how it got here, but it has been in this spot for a few years now.

Goldenrod (Solidago sp.) has just started blooming.

An adult female Wood Duck (Aix sponsa)...

...trailed by four young males.

July 8th. Fringed Loosestrife (Lysimachia ciliata).

Eastern Hop Hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana).

Enchanter's Nightshade (Circaea quadrisulcata). Note the "velcro-like" seeds which will stick to clothing and pets.

Frostweed (Helianthemum canadense).

Carolina Roses (Rosa carolina) with red berries of Morrow's Honeysuckle (Lonicera morowii).

A female Meadowhawk dragonfly (Sympetrum sp.).Stigmas at wing tips appear to be white.

Several afternoon stops near the trail along River Road. Delaware Skipper (Anatrytone logan) on Spotted Knapweed (Centaurea maculosa).

Note the shape of a specialist brown Weevil (Family Curculionidae) sheltering under most of these Knapweed flowers.

Best guess is a Dun Skipper (Euphyes vestris).

Deptford Pink (Dianthus armeria).

American Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) on Common or Philadelphia Fleabane (Erigeron philadelphicus).

Note, another weevil under the flower.

Possibly a Dusted Skipper (Atrytonopsis hianna).

A Halictid Sweat Bee (Agapostemon virescens)... and an unidentified orange and yellow caterpillar.

A Ripiphorid Beetle (Family Ripiphoridae, Macrosaigon limbata). Check out those antennae!
