April 7th. A female "picture winged" Midge (Family Chironomidae) on an ornamental Daffodil.

.

A male Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) in display mode.

A Raccoon (Procyon lotor).

Acting normally, avoided the walker. Probably out in daylight because it's extra hungry.

Common Periwinkle or Myrtle (Vinca minor), an escaped ornamental ground cover.

Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) is blooming.

April 8th. . Tree Swallows (Tachycineta bicolor) taking a break.

Look like all males.

Some hang out atop Wood Duck houses.

Lots of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) and Ring-necked Ducks (Aythya collaris) as usual..

Late morning at Cranberry Bog. The nesting Canada Geese (Branta canadensis). "Mom" on the eggs.

"Dad" several hundred feet away.

.

I'm not sure in "Mom" alerted "Dad" or if he just noticed me....

...but he soon swam over near the nest...

...and kept an eye on me.

I took the hint and left.

April 9th. Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor).

Tree Swallows (Tachycineta bicolor) returning from one of their "romps" around the marsh.

A male Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) nearby.

Make that two Wood Ducks.

The pair of Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca carolinensis) were around.

Just east of Grayville Road, Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) is ready to bloom - perhaps later today.
