October 15th. Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa)...

 

 

...and Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) can relax a bit. Duck hunting season is over.

 

 

Ferns are looking healthy.

 

 

A few second growth (after mowing) Asters are still blooming.

 

 

As much fall color on the ground as left over on the trees.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oaks still have a ways to go.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The male Belted Kingfisher (Ceryle alcyon) was around again...

 

 

...but soon switched to a distant perch.

 

 

 

 

 

October 17th.

 

 

The Northern Harrier (Circus cyanus) was back.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The male Belted Kingfisher (Ceryle alcyon) was around as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

An immature Northern Harrier (Circus cyanus) was calling.

 

 

In the afternoon, I stopped at Cranberry Bog.
