November 8th. Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) overhead at the start of a very pleasant day.

Oriental Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus), a nasty invasive vine.

More Eastern Bluebirds (Sialia sialis) than ever.

Caption contest?

First time I've seen a Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludvicianus) at the marsh.

Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis).

One of two calling Red-winged Blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus).

...and just a few Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos).

November 9th. One calling Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus).

One Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), looking like he's resting on the back of an alligator.

And one Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludvicianus), still singing (in deep shade).

November 10th. Dense fog.

Misty spider webs on dried Showy Tick Trefoil stems.

When I started walking the trail ninteen years ago, that was an active beaver lodge. Later it became a secure nesting site for Canada Geese. No longer.

Fog lifting a little as I got back to the trail head.
