December 26th.  Thin ice and dropping water levels leave raised white ice rings around every emergent stump.

Spray from rushing water at the marsh outlet near Old Colchester Road coats overhanging branches.

December 27th.  Crescent moon before dawn.

Contrails catching the dawn light at high altitude, before the sun rose on the trail.

Patterns of snow and snow-free ice on the channel.

It seems that there's often a single leaf at the center of snow-free circles on the channel ice.  Could a single leaf have such a broad influence?

December 30th.  Abstract "tree" in ice.

January 1st, 2014.  Happy New Year!

January 8th.  Zero degrees.  Ice edging Grayville Falls.

January 12th.  A brief January thaw and heavy rain brought temps in the 40s at dawn...

...and a roaring torrent at Grayville Falls.
