January 30th. Nine degrees and frost on every twig.

 

 

A Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) warming in the early morning sun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

January 31st. Early sun reflected off the marsh.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Common Reed Grass (Phragmites australis).

 

 

February 1st. A pair of Golden-crowned Kinglets (Regulus satrapa) were foraging in the marsh at sunrise.

 

 

 

 

 

A hawk perched in a tall pine faces the morning sun.

 

 

 

 

 

February 4th. Rodent tracks in fresh snow.

February 8th. Sun and temps in the high 40s mean deep puddles on much of the marsh ice.
