Red Milkweed Beetle (Tetraopes tetraophthalmus). Waterlily Leaf Beetles (Donacia sp.) are semi-aquatic; the larvae fully aquatic. A Pyralid moth (Pyralidae). Monarch (Danaus plexippus) caterpillar. A Skipper (Hesperididae) but I won't guess which. A female Scorpionfly (Panorpa sp.). Eastern Tailed Blue (Everes comyntas). A Dragonfly, possibly a female Meadowhawk (Sympetrum sp.). An aggregation of Whirligig Beetles (Gyrinidae) on the lake surface. Disturbed, they would rush about, scatter. Some would dive.
