Alphonse Clarence Jones, Abba Ella (Knight) Jones, their family and homes.

Steamboat Excursion - Location unknown. July 23, 1892. Passengers include Alphonso Clarence Jones and his wife, Abba Ella (Knight), their children Marion, Walter, Gertrude, and Margaret, and Miss Addie Fiske. (I'm not sure if Addie was related or simply a friend. I have photos of her and Georgia Fiske.) The steamboat's paddlewheel has the name "Katie" on it. At this time, the family was living in South Paris where Phon had a machine shop. That may be a clue to the location and suggests that he might have done mechanical work on the boat.

The A. C. Jones family outside their Hill Street home in South Paris, about 1897. "Phon" is seated with Abba Ella standing at the right. Walter does not appear. The three girls at the left would appear to be, from left to right, Ruth Gertrude Jones, Marion Winifred Jones (seated), and Margaret Bancroft Jones in hammock.

The Jones home on Hill Street, South Paris. They lived there from 1886 until 1899. It has since burned down (though I don't know when).

The Jones home on Main Street, South Paris. The family moved into this home on Nov 8, 1899. Marion Jones was married there Sep 26, 1900; Margaret's daughter Dorothy Wilbur was born there in 1905; and Alphonse C. Jones died there Jan 14, 1907. Abba Ella and Margaret moved out June 9, 1908, going to live with Marion in Woodfords. The house was torn down in 1978 to make room for a funeral home parking lot.
