Quarry Bank Mill

April 2004

Quarry Bank Mill uses period machinery to weave cotton cloth. They start with bales of cotton, make their own thread, then weave and dye it.

We also saw the quarters where the chilldren who worked here lived.

I wish you could hear the marvelous sounds made by the flying-shuttle looms.

Patterns are printed from engraved steel rollers.
