My
name is Ian Malcolm and I am from Marlborough, a small town
just outside of Hartford, Connecticut. I am a senior attending
RHAM High School. Throughout my childhood and into my Premier
and High School years, soccer has been my passion. Six years
ago I joined my first Premier soccer club looking to improve
my soccer skills. I started in Goal and Left-Mid, but have
found Defense to be where I have the most to offer. Hard play
and resulting injuries limited my High School play: I suffered
a broken ankle in my Freshman year and a broken collar bone
in my Sophomore year. In both years, I worked hard to regain
my fitness in time for successful indoor and outdoor seasons
with Northeast United Premier Soccer Club. The level of competition
and quality of coaching in Premier have advanced my soccer
skills, agility, and endurance. This year I played on both
U-17 and U-18 teams that achieved honors.
High School soccer and Premier clubs have taken me all around
the east coast playing against opponents from Virginia to
Vermont. I play year-round, indoor and out, against teams
at or above my age bracket. Now, I am looking for a college
that can help me to continue to improve both as an athlete
and as a person, and to take advantage of everything that
team sports have to offer. I strongly believe that I can contribute
to a college program given my desire, willingness to learn,
versatility, competitiveness and experience.
